Triple P positive parenting program
Ann-Marie HERMANS (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (09:51): Recently I had the great pleasure of meeting with the Triple P positive parenting program. Parenting is never easy, especially in today’s world, but we all know that the quality of parenting directly impacts a child’s mental health, their wellbeing and their future. That is where Triple P comes in. This critical organisation provides parents with practical strategies to help build strong, healthy relationships with their children, confidently respond to their children’s emotions and behaviours and establish routines and expectations to prevent problems from developing. Their work is backed by 40 years of ongoing local and international research. So far over 700,000 parents and carers across Australia and over 150,000 Victorians have used the Triple P online programs. With levels of neurodivergence among children rising rapidly – we see this in our schools – the work that Triple P does could not be more important. I commend them for the upcoming rollout of their new program, Thriving Kids, which has been developed specifically for parents and carers of children with disabilities and developmental delays.
