Constituency questions

Northern Victoria Region

Wendy LOVELL

Northern Victoria Region

Wendy LOVELL (Northern Victoria) (13:01): (2578) My question is for the Minister for Education. Will the minister allocate dedicated funding to carry out maintenance at Tylden Primary and other public schools in the Macedon electorate? When Premier Ben Carroll was Minister for Education, he allowed schools in the Macedon electorate to fall into disrepair, with 50 per cent of schools assessed as being in poor condition. Tylden Primary School demonstrates what Labor’s chronic underinvestment in regional school infrastructure looks like. The school has to cover basic maintenance through locally raised funds, and money that should be going towards student learning has to be spent on painting and safety works. The fantastic Liberal candidate for Macedon Kate Kendall visited Tylden Primary and was shocked to see the poor physical condition of the buildings, which is disrupting the education and wellbeing of students and staff. Children at Tylden Primary and all schools in the Macedon electorate deserve clean and safe classrooms and school grounds where they can focus on learning.
