Adjournment
Southern Metropolitan Region
David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (12:59): (2576) We have seen in recent days the revelation of a secret tax on every ticket fare in the state: every bus, every tram, every train and every regional train. The Premier, although he seems to have been deeply part of the genesis of this, now says he is going to tear that up. Well, the problem is they have been collecting the fare tax – the special, secret fare tax – since 1 January 2025. I would like him to tell me how much has been collected in my electorate of Southern Metro. Further – and this could be for the Minister for Public Transport, but it appears the Premier is so intimately involved he may know more – what I would seek from the transport minister is: how much has been collected, and will it be paid back?
