Constituency questions

North-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Richard WELCH

North-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Richard WELCH (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:58): (2575) My constituency question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. For drivers across Banyule and Nillumbik in my electorate, the Civic Drive roundabout is a daily bottleneck and a longstanding safety concern, and it has not been for a little while; it has been for years and years and years. This is a real problem. More than 25,000 vehicles pass through that intersection at Diamond Creek Road already, and it is going to be many, many more when the North East Link opens up in 2028. There is no plan to address it. The local member for Bundoora has shown no interest in addressing it. The Liberal candidate for Bundoora Chris Parr has been advocating strongly that this gets addressed for the constituents of Bundoora. The question I ask is: will the minister commit to delivering the upgrade needed for the Civic Drive roundabout before North East Link opens in 2028?
