Constituency questions

South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

David LIMBRICK

South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

David LIMBRICK (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:55): (2572) My constituency question is for the minister responsible for transport and planning. Crossing guards need a range of skills to perform their role safely and effectively. It is a very social job which involves talking to members of the community. It requires a certain amount of bravery to step out in front of traffic with the hope that cars will stop. On Centre Dandenong Road in Moorabbin it also requires the niche skill of guiding pedestrians around pitfalls. On this road between Coolac Street and Avalon Court there are a series of potholes presenting a risk not just to motorists swerving to dodge them but also to the pedestrians who have to bound over them with the assistance of crossing guards. One of the larger potholes is right between the white lines of the pedestrian crossing. This creates added risk for pedestrians, including many children who attend school in the area. What is the government doing about the potholes on the middle of the pedestrian crossing on Centre Dandenong Road?
