Ryan BATCHELOR (Southern Metropolitan) (09:40): Recently I visited the St Kilda & Balaclava Kindergarten to have a look at the works completed last year using funding from the Labor government’s Building Blocks improvement grants. The work they have done there is truly impressive. The kindergarten is more than 100 years old. They have refurbished the existing building, preserving their heritage, and added new rooms out the back. The garden area looks fantastic. This kindergarten is one of Melbourne’s hidden gems, and the work that has been done there is truly spectacular. The project has not just received praise from the local community but also has won multiple awards, including the 2025 Victorian School Design Awards award for best new kindergarten, the City of Port Phillip’s excellence in cultural and community benefit award and a Design & Development Awards award for non-residential projects. I want to congratulate the coordinator Tarryn and the parent committee for the great work they have done on the project.
