Nick McGOWAN (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:45): (2596) My constituency question is for the Minister for Planning, and it is a question from my constituents because they are very concerned – and rightly so – that Bronhill Road reserve, a beautiful little park, faces the prospect of being sold by Maroondah council, I regret to say. It is the wrong decision, and I would ask that the planning minister intervene and provide an overlay, some kind of protection, that would serve to restrict the use of that parcel of land to being a park and a public park only and not allow its sale and use. It has been marketed as a partnership between council and the proposed purchaser of the property. Locals do not want this. I absolutely support the locals wholeheartedly in their defence of this public park. It is a beautiful public park which is used by our children, by our pets, by our families and by our local community, and I would ask the minister to take urgent action before the caretaker mode comes into place to put an overlay on that park to ensure that it is used for park purposes only.
