Northern Metropolitan Region
Sheena WATT (Northern Metropolitan) (12:53): (2604) My constituency question today is directed to the Minister for Equality. Last week I joined the minister and Gabe Steger, Labor’s candidate for Brunswick, to visit Affirmation Station, Transgender Victoria’s community hub. Having visited Affirmation Station when it originally launched at its former site, it was fantastic to see this vibrant new location, which offers wonderful, wonderful resources. As I noted yesterday during the tabling of the anti-LGBTI hate crimes inquiry report, inclusive community hubs like this are so important at such a polarising time. They provide a genuine place of safety, dignity and belonging for trans and gender-diverse locals and some not so locals, including some folks that have travelled interstate to see Affirmation Station. But on behalf of the locals, my question is: what other supports and investment is our Labor government delivering across the Northern Metropolitan Region to support our LGBTIQA+ communities, with a particular focus on the trans community?
